1138 - Felicini (Le Grincheux)
Mâle, né en 2001

Felicini est un chat dans la force de l’âge. Il y a quelques années, il a perdu son maître qui est décédé. Depuis, il avait trouvé une nouvelle maîtresse mais elle a été obligée de nous le rendre car elle déménageait en résidence. Felicini recherche donc un nouveau foyer qui lui donnera une 2de chance. C’est un beau grand chat intelligent et très affectueux. Felicini ne miaule pas mais vous parle en émettant un petit son de canard. Il préfère votre compagnie à celle des chats qui partagent la même maison que lui. Un bon chat pour une maison calme.

Felicini’s nickname is le Grincheux — the Grumbler. He was adopted several years ago from the Refuge but his master passed away two years ago and he was taken in by a friend who has had to move to a seniors’ residence and could not take him with her. He now needs another home where he will have a second chance to live out the rest of his many years to come. He is a big, beautiful and intelligent cat and very affectionate. He never meows — but talks to his foster mom in a little voice more like a duck quack. He likes people more than other cats and he would thrive in a calm home, without other pets or children, as he does not like to be jostled.

1231 - Bruno
(Mâle, né en mai 2006)

Malgré des débuts difficiles, Bruno commence à s’adapter peu à peu à sa nouvelle vie. Il se promène avec nos autres chats. Il joue avec les autres chats de la maison mais ne se laisse pas plus n’y moins toucher qu’avant mais il a moins peur de nous. Il boit son eau plus tranquillement, ne passe plus à la course devant nous et le matin dans le lit il se laisse flatter comme les autres. Pour les familles qui veulent donner une petite chance à un gentil chat qui a eu des débuts difficiles. Bruno a besoin d’un foyer calme, idéalement avec d’autres chats qui vont lui donner confiance.

In spite of difficult debuts, Bruno begins to adapt himself little by little to his new life. He strolls with our other cats. He plays with the other cats of the house but does not let us touch him more than before but he is less afraid of us. He drinks his water more slowly, does not run away any more in front of us and in bed in the morning, he allows us to caress him like the other cats. For a family who wants to give a small chance to a kind cat which had difficult debuts, Bruno needs a quiet home, ideally with other cats who will give him confidence.

1235 - Oscar

J’ai environ cinq ans. J’ai peut-être l’air au peu triste, mais c’est parce que je n’ai pas eu la vie facile dans la rue. J’étais pas mal magané quand on m’a amené chez le vétérinaire. Ils m’ont dit que j’ai le F.I.V. – le sida des chats, mais ce n’est pas contagieux pour les humains ni les chiens. Et je peux vivre une longue vie de chat normale même si j’ai cette maladie. J’apprécie tellement d’être à l’intérieur maintenant. Je me fais dorloter sur la chaise de cuisine au soleil, je me colle à mes parents d’accueil et je dors avec eux la nuit. Je suis très affectueux pour leur montrer comment je suis heureux, je suis calme et j’aime bien dormir après quelques caresses. Je me cherche une vraie famille, où je me sentirai en sécurité. En échange, je serai toujours là pour vous et je vous serai infiniment reconnaissant. Au plaisir de vous rencontrer, Oscar.

I am around five years old. I might look a little bit sad, but it’s because I did not have an easy life on the street. I was unwell when I was brought to the vet. They told me I have FIV – HIV of cats, but it isn’t contagious for humans or dogs. So I can live a long, symptom-free and normal cat life even with this illness. I appreciate being inside so much now. I lounge on the kitchen chair in the sun, I snuggle with my foster parents and I sleep with them at night. I am very affectionate to show them how happy I am. I'm calm and I love to sleep after a few strokes. I am looking for a real family, where I will feel safe and where I can forget the cold and the street. In return, I will always be there for you and I will be eternally grateful. In hopes of meeting you soon, Oscar.

1350 - Jacqueline
(Femelle, née en août 2005)

Jacqueline a environ 2 ans. Elle a été recueillie cet été peu après les déménagements de juillet. C’est une chatte affectueuse, joueuse et très attachante. Elle aime se faire bercer dans vos bras et vous n’avez qu’à lui dire quelques mots pour qu’elle se mette à ronronner de bonheur. Malheureusement, le test a révélé qu’elle était atteinte du virus F.I.V. (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Les chats qui sont atteints de ce virus peuvent néanmoins vivre une vie normale mais plus courte, soit entre 8 et 10 ans. Ils sont plus sujets à des infections de toutes sortes et ne doivent pas cohabiter avec d’autres chats, à moins qu’ils soient atteints du même virus. Jacqueline is about two years old. She was rescued this past summer after the infamous July moving day. She is very affectionate, playful and charming. She loves to be held in you arms and you only have to say a few words before she starts purring with joy. If she looks a little sad, it may be because she has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Cats with this virus can, nevertheless, live a normal life — though usually for eight or ten years. They are more apt to get infections of various kinds and should, therefore, be in a home with no other cats or with others that have the same virus. 1414 - Mamma Bear
(Femelle, née en janvier 2007)

Lorsqu’un résident amena cette jolie petite chatte chez le vétérinaire, en octobre, le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est qu’elle était vraiment très enceinte. La même journée, elle donnait naissance à trois chatons et était placées avec eux en famille d’accueil. Elle a été une très bonne mère, mais maintenant que ses chatons ont été adoptés, il est temps pour elle, de trouver un foyer permanent. Elle est stérilisée et vaccinée. Elle vit avec d’autres chats et deux chiens et s’est adaptée très rapidement. Elle est enjouée quoiqu’un peu timide encore et a besoin d’un environnement où elle se sentira en sécurité. Elle serait la compagne idéale pour quelqu’un vivant seul et ayant beaucoup de tendresse à lui donner.

This pretty little cat was brought to a vet clinic by someone who had found her on the street In October-- very very pregnant. Within a day she had given birth to three kittens and was placed in a foster home. She has been a great little mom and her kittens have all been adopted so Mamma Bear is now ready to find a permanent home. She has been sterilized and has had her vaccinations. There are many cats and two dogs in her foster home so she will adapt quickly to a household where there are other pets. She is petite, pretty and playful but she is a bit shy and needs a quiet home where she will fell secure and safe. She would make a wonderful companion for someone who lives alone and has lots of love to give to this wonderful cat.

1442 - Roméo
(Mâle, né en septembre 2006)

Malgré sa forte stature, Roméo est en fait un chat tabby assez timide. Il est gêné et a besoin qu’on lui laisse le temps de s’adapter à un nouvel environnement, mais une fois qu’il se sentira en confiance, il peut être très aimant et affectueux. Il s’entend très bien avec les autres chats. La petite tache sur le côté de son né lui donne un air plutôt coquin et ajoute à son charme. Cet adorable chat a besoin d’une famille qui l’aimera et qui lui donnera toute l’attention qu’il mérite.

Romeo is a big strong tabby who is actually quite a timid cat. He is shy and needs to be given time to adapt to a new environment but once he feels secure, he can be very loving and affectionate and he gets along well with other cats. The little smudge on the side of his nose gives him a rather impish look and he adds to his charm. A lovely cat who needs to find a loving home where he will be given the attention he deserves.

1461 - Foxy

Foxy est un grand chat orange et blanc, qui a été trouvé dans la rue, sérieusement blessé. Quelqu’un l’a trouvé et a contacté le Refuge et l’a amené chez le vétérinaire. Il a été traité pour une blessure à une patte et une grave infection à une oreille. Il a maintenant terminé sa convalescence, mais son infection à l’oreille lui a laissé un tympan perforé et l’habitude de se tenir la tête de coté, ce qui lui donne un air rêveur. À la dernière visite chez le vétérinaire, la perforation avait diminué et il n’est pas impossible qu’il récupère complètement. Quoi qu’il en soit, c’est un bonheur de voir évoluer Foxy. C’est un véritable boute-en-train. Il s’entend bien avec les autres chats et les humains, en plus d’être un très beau chat.

Foxy is a big, handsome red and white cat who was found on the street, badly injured and near death. The refuge got a call from the person who found him lying in the gutter and authorized her to take him to the vet clinic immediately. He was treated for a leg injury and for a badly infected ear. While Foxy has recovered from his injuries, the ear infection left him with a perforated eardrum and as a result he holds his head at a slight angle which gives the impression that he is deep in thought and it is altogether charming. On his last visit to the vet, the perforation was greatly decreased and the vet thinks that it may, in time, completely heal over. Foxy is a real treat to be around, friendly and full of fun. He gets along well with the other cats in his foster home and would make a great companion in a family with other pets. This is one very good looking cat with a personality to match.

1482 - Molly
(Femelle, née en 2006)

Molly fut retrouvée dans la ruelle l’hiver dernier. Il était évident qu’elle n’était pas un chat d’extérieur et qu’elle avait subi de mauvais traitements. Elle réagit très mal aux tentatives de caresses dans la région de sa queue, de ses pattes arrière et de l’estomac, bien qu’elle se laisse facilement gratter le dessus de la tête. À l’exception de ce comportement, elle redevient un chat heureux, aimant la compagnie des humains et dont l’endroit préféré pour une sieste, demeure les genoux des gens qui l’entourent. Molly est calme, très propre, aime l’heure des repas et agit en vraie dame. Parce qu’elle doit être traitée avec beaucoup de délicatesse à cause des séquelles de son passé, elle devra être adoptée par une personne ayant l’expérience des chats et qui saura apprécier ce chat un peu étrange mais plein de qualités.

Molly was discovered in the lane this past winter, abandoned. It was apparent she was not an outdoor cat. As time went on it was discovered that she must have been abused or tormented, because she reacts very badly (bites and snarls) when one tries to pet her around her back legs, stomach and tail area. She will only let you scratch her head. Apart from that, she is an extremely happy cat that still loves being with people as she is constantly snuggling in peoples’ laps, her favourite place in the whole world. Molly is quiet, extremely clean, loves meal times and is very lady like. She must be handled in a very careful manner with an experienced cat person who will appreciate this odd but wonderful cat. She truly is different and she obviously has never lost her trust in humans yet.

1486 - Murphy

Murphy est un jeune chat qui a été trouvé dans la rue avec une blessure à la patte. Lorsqu’il a été récupéré, on a vu qu’il avait des cristaux dans son urine - ils ont disparus après quelques semaines de traitement. Toutefois, le vétérinaire recommande de maintenir une diète pour prévenir une rechute. Il doit aussi se faire vider les glandes anales au 2-3 mois. Ce n’est pas nécessaire de voir le vétérinaire pour cela et c’est une procédure qui se fait très rapidement. Malgré ses petits problèmes de santé, Murphy est un chat avec un super caractère. Il est très affectueux et adore se faire flatter en dormant sur nous. Il est très calme et aime passer des heures à regarder par la fenêtre. Il aime aussi jouer. Il serait très bien avec une famille stable qui pourrait lui donner les soins et l’attention dont il mérite.

Murphy is a young cat who was found in the street with an injured paw. When he was rescued, we saw that he had urinary crystals. After a few weeks of treatment, the crystals disappeared. However, the vet recommended a special diet to prevent the formation of new crystals. Murphy must also have his anal glands emptied every two to three months. It is not necessary to see a veterinarian for this, and it is a very quick procedure. In spite of his little health problems, Murphy has a lovely personality. He is very affectionate and loves to be stroked while sleeping on top of us. He is very calm and likes to spend hours looking out the window at passing birds and people. He also likes to play; his favourite game is chasing a piece of string. He would be wonderful in a stable family who could give him the care and attention he deserves.

1512 - Bette Davis
(Femelle, née en 2007)

Cette jolie chatte noire et blanche possède des yeux à la Bette Davis et saura certainement capter votre attention dès que vous la rencontrerez. Elle a été abandonnée, puis gentiment recueillie par une résidente de Verdun qui a immédiatement contacté le refuge afin de lui trouver une famille d’accueil. Le jour après son arrivée dans cette famille, elle a donné naissance à une portée de 4 adorables chatons. Elle est très protectrice envers ses bébés et a rapidement fait comprendre aux deux chiens de sa famille d’accueil que ses chatons sont SES chatons! Lorsqu’elle s’éloigne un peu de ses bébés, elle est très amicale et joueuses et, maintenant qu’elle sera bientôt délivrée de ses tâches de maman, elle se cherche un vrai foyer où elle sera aimée et accueillie en tant que membre de la famille.

This pretty black and white cat has got those Bette Davis eyes and they are sure to attract your attention right from the start. This cat had been abandoned and taken in by a kindly Verdun resident who asked the refuge to place her in a foster home and the day after her arrival in her new home, she gave birth to a batch of 4 kittens. She is very protective of her kittens and has made the two big dogs in her foster home understand that her kittens are HER kittens in no uncertain terms. But when she is away from her babies, she can be quite friendly and playful. Now that she will soon be relieved of her motherly duties, she is looking for a new home where she will be adored and become a loving member of the household.

1529 - Boucane

(Femelle, née en 2006)

Boucane (ou parfois Boubou…) est une magnifique chartreuse à poils longs très petite et mince malgré qu,elle soit adulte. Gourmande, elle vient toujours quêter lorsque je mange quelque chose qui lui plaît - mais dans le fonds tout lui plaît, car elle dévore! Elle laissait encore ses bébés boire alors qu’ils avaient plus de 3 mois. Une très bonne mère qui a été réchappée de justesse avant la dernière grosse tempête en mars alors qu’elle était sur le point d’avoir ses chatons.

Boucane also called Boubou. A beautiful long haired Chartreuse… tiny and slim although she is adult. She loves to eat and is always ready to beg, when I eat something that she likes, but in fact she likes everything, maybe because she was still lets her kittens drink from her although they were over three month old. She is a very good mom and was taken from the street just before the last big snow storm, early March, when she was just ready to give birth.

1531 - Neige

Neige a été trouvée dans la rue. Elle est très affectueuse. Elle a beaucoup d’énergie, elle aime bien quand on s’occupe d’elle. Avec les autres chats, elle n’est pas si pire mais ca lui prend un peu de temps pour s’adapter. Elle est dégriffée des pattes avant.

Neige was found on the street. She is very affectionate and full of energy and she loves to be the centre of attention. She is not totally comfortable with other cats but she is beginning to adapt to their presence in her foster home. She has been declawed on her front paws. She has been sterilized and vaccinated.

1542 - Mirmir

(Mâle, né en avril 2007)

Ce joli chaton noir et blanc était un "chat de la rue" un peu dur avant d’être recueilli par une gentille famille d’accueil. Il est maintenant stérilisé et vacciné et s’adapte graduellement à sa nouvelle destinée de chat d’intérieur. Il aura besoin d’un peu de temps pour s’ajuster à son nouveau statut. Son joli visage, ses grandes moustaches et son nez noir lui donnent un air de « je ne sais quoi » et tous les efforts que vous ferez pour lui fournir une famille aimante vous seront grandement récompensés. Il n’est pas un très gros chat, mais il est très musclé et fort en plus d’une personnalité qui colle à son physique. Un joli garçon qui mérite de vivre le reste de sa vie dans le confort et l’admiration.

This black and white kitty was a bit of a tough street-cat before he was taken in by a kindly foster family but he has now been neutered and vaccinated and is gradually accepting his destiny as a house cat. He will need some time to adjust to his new status but his cute face, long whiskers and black nose give him a certain je ne sais quoi and any effort put into providing a loving home for him will be rewarded many times over. He is not a big cat but very muscular and strong and he has a personality to match. A really cute boy who deserves to live the rest of his life in comfort and adoration.

1543 - SweetFace

SweetFace (Frimousse) n’a pas reçu ce nom par hasard. Un seul regard permet de comprendre pourquoi on l’a nommé ainsi. Il est adorable, affectueux et enjoué. Il adore les autres chats et chatons et sera très à l’aise dans une famille avec d’autres chats et des enfants car SweetFace aime avoir de l’action autour de lui. Lorsqu’il est laissé à lui-même, il a tendance à s’ennuyer et ça peut l’amener à vous jouer quelques tours. Mais un seul regard à sa belle petite face, vous obligera à pardonner quelques bêtises car il vous donnera tellement de plaisirs par son affection, sa beauté et ses jeux.

SweetFace didn’t get his name by accident — his is a face you just have to love. He is truly an adorable cat, friendly and playful. He absolutely adores other cats and kittens and would fit in well with a family with other pets, kids and a great deal of activity as he tends to get bored when he is alone and gets quite mischievous. His handsome markings and that face you just can’t forget make him a treasure waiting to be taken in and loved, played with and adored.

1553 - Watson

Ce beau chat demeurait dans une maison de Verdun, où il y avait déjà trop de chats. Plusieurs de ces chats avaient déjà été donnés par la famille avant l’intervention du Refuge. Ils ont accepté que nous recueillions les chats afin qu’ils soient vaccinés et stérilisés avant l’âge de six mois. Watson est un très beau chat, mais il est aussi très timide avec les humains. Il vit présentement avec d’autres chats et deux gros chiens. Il accepte difficilement les caresses et les câlins, bien qu’à l’occasion, il aime se coucher en boule sur le lit de sa maîtresse. Il a besoin d’un foyer calme, probablement chez une personne vivant seule, souvent disponible, et qui prendra le temps de l’amadouer afin qu’il réalise tout l’amour qu’il peut recevoir des humains.

This cute cat is one of many kittens who were living in Verdun in a house with just too many cats — in fact, many kittens were given away by the family before the refuge became involved and the family agreed to let us take them, have them vaccinated and sterilized. Watson is extremely handsome — and extremely shy. He is used to living in a home with many other cats and two big dogs and he gets along well with them but he is reluctant to be cuddled — or even petted — although he does curl up on the bed with his foster mom on occasion. He needs to find a quiet home, probably someone living alone who is almost always there and who will give Watson the time he needs to feel comfortable and secure. With time and patience, however, this sweet cat may well become the cat he should be — friendly, loving and a great companion to have at home.

1560 - Annie

(Femelle, née en novembre 2005)

Cette jolie chatte fait partie du faible pourcentage de femelles tabby de couleur orange. Elle vivait dans les rues de Pointe St-Charles et a été trouvé dans un état pitoyable. Une résidente a eu pitié d’elle l’hiver passé et lui a installé une cabane isolée et lui a donné toute la nourriture dont elle avait besoin. Lorsqu’elle a été examinée par le vétérinaire, ce dernier lui a prescrit des antibiotiques pour une maladie respiratoire et des abcès dans sa bouche. Le vétérinaire lui a aussi enlevé quelques dents pour éliminer les abcès. Ensuite, elle a pu être vaccinée et stérilisée. Elle s’est bien rétablie et est maintenant en pleine forme. Elle nécessitera une diète en conserve ou autre nourriture molle mais elle vivra dorénavant une vie en santé. Son visage rond et ses jolis yeux qui coordonnent son poil orange font d’elle une vraie beauté. Sa famille d’accueil a d’autres chats alors elle s’adapterait bien dans une famille avec d’autres animaux.

This pretty cat is one of a small percentage of orange tabbies who are female. She was living on the streets of Pointe-St-Charles and was in very poor condition when a kindly resident took pity on her last winter and installed an insulated cabin and provided her with lots of food. When she was taken to the vet clinic for an evaluation, she was put on antibiotics for a respiratory illness and abscesses in her mouth. Later, she was able to be vaccinated and sterilized. At the same time, many of her teeth were removed to eliminate the abscesses and she has come along beautifully. She is now in great health but will need to have a diet of mainly canned or other soft cat food but she should live a long and healthy life from now on. She is a real beauty with a charming round face and lovely eyes that match her orange coat. Her foster family has several other cats so she will fit in well in a home with other pets.

1603 - Ti-Gus

Né à la fin mars 2008, ce chat ressemble à un Oriental en raison de ses grandes oreilles, son poil très court et sa longue queue étroite. Ti-Gus a un tempérament calme mais il aime aussi faire la course avec les autres chats de la maison. S’il existait une race de chat Lévrier, il serait de ceux-là. Un très beau chat avec un genre bien spécial. Il n’attend que vous!

Ti-Gus was born at the end of March. Because of his long ears, very short hair and long slim tail, he resembles the Oriental cat breed. He has a very calm disposition but he likes to play tag and chase with the other cats in his foster home. If there was a species of cat called Greyhound, Ti-Gus would certainly be one. This is a very special cat who is simply biding his time before finding a new home. You could be the lucky one who gets to call him your own.

1637 - Grisoux

Pour ceux qui aiment caresser un chat pendant des heures. Je suis un beau gros chat qui n’a pas de malice, vous pouvez me caresser longuement et j’adore ça. J’ai été diagnostiqué F.I.V. positif, donc je suis le chat idéal pour une personne qui désire n’avoir qu’un chat qui est une présence tranquille. À qui la chance ?

For those who like to stroke a cat for hours on end. I am a big handsome cat without a shred of malice. I adore being petted at length. I have been diagnosed FIV positive, so I am ideal for someone who only wants one, tranquil cat. Who will be the lucky ones?

1657 - Linda
(Femelle, née en avril 2007)

Cette chatte noire et blanche a été amenée dans un foyer d’accueil au printemps dernier, et ce, juste à temps pour accoucher de cinq chatons, la plupart étant des copies conformes de leur mère. Sa petite taille et sa marque décentrée lui donne un certain charme. Les deux mâles de la portée n’ont que six mois et ils sont déjà plus grands que leur mère. Bien qu’elle ait été une bonne mère, il est temps pour Linda, de se trouver un foyer tranquille, car les jeux et taquineries de ces fils commencent à l’énerver un peu. Comme elle a vécu la plus grande partie de sa vie sur la rue, elle est un peu craintive face aux humains, mais ne refuse pas leurs caresses pour une courte période. C’est bien évident, qu’avec le temps et de l’amour, elle y prendra goût.

This cute black and white cat was brought to a foster home last spring — very, very pregnant and within a few days, she had given birth to a litter of five kittens — many of them like little clones of her. Her off-centre markings give her a certain charm and she is quite a tiny cat. Her two boys (Ebony and Sherlock) who are still with her are bigger than their mom even though they are just six months old. Linda is ready for a new home where she can enjoy her life without her kittens trying to entice her into a game of wrestling or otherwise keeping her on her toes. Linda lived most of the life on the street so she is a bit wary of humans but she will let herself be petted and cuddled for short periods but with time, she will certainly adjust to being in a loving home. She has been a devoted mother and now its time for her to begin a new life.

1673 - Razz
(Mâle, né en juin 2006)

Ce magnifique chat au port aristocratique et à l’élégance certaine, vivait dans la rue. Mais les résidents qui l’ont recueilli sont convaincus qu’il a déjà eu un foyer, car il n’a aucune crainte ni des humains, ni des autres chats. Il est très doux et affectueux et tous les gens de la rue, où il a vécu sa vie de matou, sont bien heureux de la voir enfin vacciné et stérilisé et prêt pour une nouvelle vie. Sa magnifique couleur et sa belle grosse tête en font un chat des plus remarquables.

This handsome cat had been living on the street but the resident who took him in believes he must have had a home at some time as he is not at all fearful of people and is good with the other cats. He is very gentle and affectionate and all the people on the street where he had been living the life of a typical Tom are pleased that he has now been vaccinated and neutered and is up for adoption. He is a lovely colour and his big wide face makes him a very attractive cat indeed.

1685 - Amelia
(Femelle, née en juillet 2007)

Cette jolie petite chatte noire et blanche était enceinte lorsqu’un bon samaritain l’a recueillie afin de lui permettre d’avoir ses bébés en toute sécurité. Il s’agit de trois chatons qui ont déjà été adoptés. Amélia est maintenant stérilisée et vaccinée et prête à débuter une nouvelle vie dans un foyer agréable, à l’abri des dangers de la rue. Elle partage sans problèmes son environnement avec d’autres chats, chatons et chiens. La sœur d’Amélia, Birdy (1686) - la chatte volante, sa mère d’accueil a trouvé naturel de lui donner un nom en rapport avec l’aviation (Amelia Earhart). S’envolera-t-elle vers une nouvelle vie, au cœur de votre foyer ?

This cute black and white cat was found pregnant on the street and taken in by a kind resident to have her babies — three adorable kittens who have all been adopted. Amelia has now been sterilized and vaccinated and is looking for a new permanent home where she can live a long life free of the responsibilities of motherhood. She is a friendly cat who shares her foster home with numerous cats and kittens and two large dogs — which doesn’t bother her one little bit. Her sister is Birdy, 1686, and Amelia was named that by her foster mom who felt the aviation connecting was highly appropriate. She would fit well into a home with other pets, including dogs and she would make a wonderful pet for any loving family.

1708 - Mia
(Femelle, née en février 2008)

Cette jolie tabby est une victime des déménagements de juillet et vivait dans la rue, devant ce qui fut sa maison, nourrie par quelques résidents compatissants. Une bénévole du Refuge a constaté qu’elle était blessée. À grand coup de gâteries, il a été possible de l’amener chez le vétérinaire où en plus des traitements nécessaires pour sa blessure, elle a reçu ses vaccins et a été stérilisée. Elle est plutôt affectueuse et aime bien les caresses près de la tête et des oreilles, mais beaucoup moins dans la région de la queue, là où elle a été blessée. C’est pourquoi il lui faudrait une maison sans enfants. Du moment où on lui laisse décider quand est le moment des caresses ou des jeux, elle peut être très agréable. Comme une partie des chats qui ont été blessés ou qui ont vécu longtemps sur la rue, Mia a horreur des cages et transporteurs, nous lui évitons donc les journées d’adoption, mais elle peut être visitée dans sa famille d’accueil. This pretty tabby was abandoned during the July move and was living on the street in front of the apartment block that was her former home and being fed by some kindly residents. A Refuge volunteer notice that she was injured. A few kitty treats at the back of a cage, however, tempted her and we were able to get her to the clinic where she was treated with antibiotics for her wound and was vaccinated and neutered. She is quite lovely and likes to be petted near her head but she is quite sensitive around the tail where she was hurt so it would be ideal if a family without young children would adopt her. She loves being around people though — as long as they let her decide when she wants to be caressed and she is very playful. Like many cats who have been injured or have lived a long time on the street, Mia has an absolute loathing for cages and cat carriers, so we have decided that Mia not have to come to adoption days anymore but can be visited in her foster home. This classic tabby with a cute face and bright eyes who deserves a second chance at finding a loving home.

1756 - Maggie

Comme vous pouvez le voir, je suis une très jolie chatte grise et blanche. Grâce au Refuge, j’avais trouvé un foyer, il y a plusieurs années de ça, mais le destin a frappé à nouveau et notre maîtresse adorée a quitté ce monde. Nous nous retrouvons donc, mon ami Mickey et moi, à la recherche d’un nouveau foyer. Je n’oublierai jamais ma maîtresse mais j’ai encore beaucoup d’affection à donner et de belles années devant moi. Idéalement, Mickey et moi aimerions rester ensemble, mais même séparés, nous deviendrons des amis fidèles et des compagnons aimants pour toute la maisonnée.

This pretty grey and white cat was adopted from the refuge several years ago. Her mistress recently passed away and Maggie and her buddy, Mickey, are now in a foster home awaiting a new permanent arrangement. Maggie is very affectionate, friendly and a truly sweet cat who misses her former home and desperately wants to find a family who will love her and give her many long years of stability and happiness. Ideally, she and Mickey would be adopted together but either would make an great pet in a loving home.

1757 - Mickey

Mickey est un doux chat gris et blanc, un peu timide avec les étrangers, mais très affectueux avec les gens qui ont gagné sa confiance. Maggie et lui, ont habité ensemble durant quelques années, mais ils ont malheureusement perdu leur maîtresse récemment et recherchent un nouveau foyer. Mickey is a sweet grey and white cat who is a bit shy with strangers but friendly and loving with people he knows. He and Maggie have been together for several years but their mistress recently passed away so they are in need of a new permanent home. These two would love to be adopted together but if someone can find a place in their home for one or the other, they will certainly be rewarded many time over with the good nature and loving temperaments of either Maggie or Mickey.

1776 - Arlequin

Arlequin est un chat joueur, coquin, pacifique et affectueux. Il est charmant et a un beau corps élancé. Il est né à la maison. Il a donc été socialisé dès son tout jeune âge. Il vit avec un adolescent, sa mère et trois autres chats (son frère, sa mère et la vieille chatte de la maison). Harlequin is a handsome young cat who is very gentle by nature. He was born in his current foster home — and not at all a street cat. He lives with a mother and teenager and three other cats, his own brother and mom, and the feline matriarch of the family. While he is quite independent, he is not at all adverse to lots of petting and cuddling before bedtime. He would fit in well in a family with kids and other pets. His slightly off-centre markings give him a certain charm.

1816 - Philomène

Recueillie en décembre 2008 lors d’une tempête de neige, cette petite chatte écaille de tortue était très affamée et craintive, mais tout de même affectueuse. Son appel à l’aide fut entendue et elle fut vaccinée et stérilisée par notre vétérinaire et placée en famille d’accueil. Elle est très charmante et sociable, a de jolis yeux, une petite tache rousse dans le front. Elle aime se coucher près de sa mère d’accueil lorsqu’elle joue de la flûte. Elle s’adapte bien à la présence d’un autre chat et aimerait bien trouver un foyer permanent où elle vivra en toute quiétude de ne pas se retrouver perdue et seule. Laissez-vous charmer!

The Refuge took in this beautiful female cat in December during a snow storm. Philomène is a very playful three-year-old cat. Very affectionate, she loves cuddling with her foster family’s members while they read or watch television. Following a short adaptation period, Philomène now enjoys playing with her new friend, Rodrigue, the family’s other cat.

1823 - Archie

Ce chat ne manque pas d’élégance et de style, avec son pelage mi-long, principalement blanc, à l’exception de quelques taches foncées sur le dessus de la tête et sur la queue et un soupçon de couleur d’un coté de son nez. Il est très, très affectueux, adore se coller et être caressé, et il l’indique clairement par ses ronronnements. Il a l’habitude de vivre avec d’autres chats et s’entend très bien avec eux. Donc Archie, malgré son look d’aristocratique, n’a rien d’un snobinard, c’est au contraire, un chat très attachant qui a beaucoup d’amour à donner. Est-ce vous qui en profiterez ?

This handsome cat has medium-long fur, mostly white with dark markings on his head and tail and a smudge on one side of his nose which gives him an ever-so-charming look. He is very, very affectionate, loves to snuggle and to be petted and rewards you with loud purrs. He is absolutely adorable and having lived with other cats, would fit in well in a home with other cats. A treasure waiting to be discovered by some lucky family who will appreciate his good looks and loving nature.

1837 - Big Guy

Ce beau chat orange et blanc vivait dans les rues de Pointe St-Charles, quand une famille a décidé qu’il méritait mieux que quelques repas offerts à l’occasion. Ils ont demandé au Refuge de le prendre. Il a été stérilisé et vacciné. Durant les tests, il s’est révélé qu’il est infecté du virus du VIH. Il est présentement en grande forme. De nature plutôt indépendante, il ne refuse quand même pas les caresses et passe régulièrement quelques heures dans le lit de sa maman d’accueil avant de retourner à son endroit favori : le dessus du refroidisseur d’eau, d’où il peut surveiller à sa guise, les oiseaux de la cour. Les chats atteints du F.I.V. peuvent vivre une vie normale, pour huit à dix ans. Ils sont plus sujets aux infections diverses, et doivent vivre à l’intérieur, sans autres chats, ou avec des chats ayant le même virus. This cute orange and white male was living on the streets of Pointe-St. Charles when a family with other cats decided he needed more than a handout of kibbles and asked the refuge to take him in. He has been neutered and vaccinated – and tested for FIV, which, unfortunately, turned out to be positive. He is in great shape at the moment, however. He is quite independent, but does enjoy a good dose of petting and he has taken over his half of the bed he shares with his foster mom – at least for a few hours before retreating to his favourite spot on the water cooler where he spends much of his day eyeing the birds in the back yard. Cats with FIV can live a normal life — though usually for eight or ten years. They are more apt to get infections of various kinds and should, therefore, be in a home with no other cats or with others that have the same virus. 1847 - Zorro

On comprend vite pourquoi je porte le nom de Zorro - mon masque le dit. J'ai été recueilli par le Refuge l'hiver dernier, avec mes 3 frères et sœurs, après avoir été nourri et choyé par un gentil résident. Je suis un jeune mâle costaud, de nature gentil et aimant. Je suis un peu timide mais j’adore jouer et recevoir de douces caresses.

It’s not hard to see how Zorro got his name — the mask says it all. I was one of four young kittens rescued last winter who were born outside and surviving thanks to the kindness of a resident who provided a shelter and food for them until the Refuge found them foster homes. I am a robust young male with a gentle, loving nature. He’s a bit timid, but loves to play and be petted.

1852 - Pinch
(Mâle, né en juin 2008)

Quand la maman de Pinch s’était sauvée de la maison, elle est revenue enceinte et dans la portée, il y avait Pinch. D’un naturel assez discret, il aime bien se faire câliner, se frotter aux jambes et se faire brosser. On le compare à un toutou en peluche à cause de sa douce nature. Il n’a jamais été agressif et comme il a grandi avec plusieurs autres chats, il s’accommode bien de leur présence.

One day, the mother of Pinch managed to get out of the house and when she came back she was pregnant — and among her babies was Pinch. He is a calm cat, loves to rub up against your legs and to be brushed. Some consider him to be just like a stuffed toy because of his nature. Is is not the least bit aggressive and as he has grown up with many other cats, he would do well in a home where there are already other pets.

1864 - Meo (Boots)

Boots (dit Meo) est un beau grand chat. En fait, c’est un des plus grands chats que le Refuge ait recueilli. Qui plus est, il est d’une douceur incomparable pour un chat d’une telle stature. Il a su s’adapter très rapidement aux autres chats de son foyer d’accueil. C’est un beau chat qui saura être d’agréable compagnie pour la personne qui l’adoptera.

Boots (Meo) is a handsome big cat – in fact, he is one of the tallest cats the Refuge has ever taken in. And moreover, he is an extremely gentle cat for his size. He was quick to adapt to the other cats in his foster home and he will most certainly make a charming and agreeable companion for the person lucky enough to adopt him.

1881 - Dino
(Mâle, né en aout 2007

Dino tient son nom du dinosaure de la télé série Les Pierrafeu. Il est actif, bon vivant, un peu gauche et il a besoin d’espace car il aime bien courir d’une extrémité à l’autre de la maison. C’est un chat sans malice qui pourra s’entendre avec tous les chats de la maison en autant qu’ils aient la même énergie que lui.

Dino is named after the little pet dinosaur on the old TV series The Flintstones. He is active, loves to play and is just a little bit clumsy so he needs lots of space so he can gallop from one end of the house to the other. This is a cat without a mean streak in his body and he gets along well with all the cats in his foster home — especially those who have the same level of energy as he has.

1899 - Cocoa
(Femelle, née en 2007)

Cette belle écaille-de-tortue a été recueillie de la rue, par une froide journée d’hiver. Les recherches pour trouver ses propriétaires étant demeurées vaines, la personne qui a recueilli Cacao a demandé au Refuge de lui trouver un foyer. Elle était déjà stérilisée, il ne lui manquait plus que ses vaccins. Elle est calme, gentille et affectueuse. Ses belles couleurs et ses yeux pétillants, en font un chat très intéressant. Elle est déjà habituée aux enfants et aux autres animaux. Cacao sera bien rendre l’affection que lui donnera les membres de son nouveau foyer. Serez-vous la personne qui veillera à ce qu’elle ne souffre plus jamais du froid, de la faim et de la solitude ?

This pretty tortoise-shell was found outside on a cold winter day and brought inside by a kind Verdun resident. Attempts to find her original owners were futile so the person who found her asked the Refuge if we could help find her a permanent home. When we took her to the vet clinic it was discovered that she had already been sterilized so all she needed was a vaccine to bring her up to date. She is quiet and calm but friendly and affectionate at the same time. Her beautiful colours and bright eyes make her a very appealing cat and she would do well in a home with kid and other pets, as there are both in her foster family. Cocoa will certainly make a cheerful and beautiful addition to a home who will love and cherish her and ensure that she is never cold, lonely or hungry again.

1908 - Chapline

(Femelle, née en 2004)

Chapline doit son nom à sa ressemblance avec Charlie Chaplin. - la petite tâche sous son nez s’apparente à une moustache. Bien qu’elle soit adulte, elle a l’allure d’une jeune chatte de moins d’un an, ce qui lui convient car elle aime se faire dorloter comme un chaton. Elle a beaucoup de personnalité. Très curieuse, avec une intelligence vive, elle est très sociable et a une grande confiance en elle. À l’aise avec les humains, elle est toutefois un peu dominante avec les chats trop soumis. Elle est enjouée et apprécie l’attention qu’on lui porte. Sa force de caractère l’a probablement sauvé l’hiver dernier. Malade, abandonnée ou perdue, elle a su demander l’aide dont elle avait besoin. Chapline owes her name to her resemblance to Charlie Chaplin. The little brown spot under her nose brings his moustache to mind and gives her an air that’s both mischievous and like a moonstruck Pierrot. Moreover, she and her namesake inspire protection, since they are both so sensitive and physically fragile. Even though she is an adult, Chapline has the look of a cat less than a year old. 1909 - Mandy

Cette belle chatte d’Espagne a été recueillie par un résident de Ville Émard. Celui-ci pensait qu’elle était enceinte, mais en fait, elle avait déjà eu ses bébés. Elle est maintenant stérilisée et cherche un foyer. Elle est affectueuse et n’hésite pas à exprimer vocalement son besoin d’attention. Elle vivait déjà avec un autre chat dans la rue et s’adaptera bien à un environnement avec d’autres animaux. Cette jolie tache au-dessus de son œil gauche ne fait qu’ajouter au charme que lui confère sa charmante nature.

This charming calico was found by a resident of Ville Emard who believed she was pregnant but when we picked her up we felt that she may have had babies some time ago. She has now been sterilized and needs a new loving home. She is very vocal and quite affectionate with people. She had a constant cat companion while she was living on the streets so she will adapt in an environment with other pets. Her off-centre markings and the patch over her left eye make her a very attractive cat and her gentle nature only adds to her charm.

1914 - Bella

Bella est une beauté noire avec une caractéristique surprenante, un très long et très blanc poil de moustache. Elle et ses 3 chatons ont été trouvés au Centre Marcel-Giroux où le Refuge tient ses journées d’adoption. Ils étaient dans un sac de sport avec une lettre expliquant qu’elle a été recueillie enceinte, durant l’hiver, mais que la personne ne peut la garder plus longtemps, faute d’espace. Le personnel du Centre a contacté le Refuge, qui a placé toute la famille dans une maison d’accueil. Bella est une très bonne mère et adore ses chatons. Elle est douce et enjouée, mais un peu dominante avec les chats plus timides. Elle s’adaptera très bien à un foyer avec d’autres chats ou chiens, puisqu’elle vit déjà avec deux gros chiens. Elle est très délicate de stature, a un beau petit visage, et sa drôle de moustache blanche brille joliment lorsqu’elle se déplace dans le noir.

Bella is a black beauty with one outstanding feature – one very long, very white whisker. She and her three kittens were found at the Marcel-Giroux Community Centre where the Refuge holds its adoption days. They were in a sports bag accompanied by a letter from a Verdun resident explaining how she had taken in the pregnant mother during the winter but as she lived in a single room she couldn’t keep them. The Centre staff called the Refuge and we picked them up and placed them in a foster home. Bella has been a wonderful mom and adores her kittens. She is gentle and playful – but a bit bossy with the timid cats in her foster home so she would do well in a home with cats with a lot of character too. There are two big dogs in her foster home so she would be fine with a pooch as well. She has a very delicate build and a sweet little face – and that one white whisker stands out like a beacon in the night.

1927 - Minuit

(Femelle, née en mai 2006)

Toute de couleur gris-bleu, elle est la mère de Tina (1929) et de 5 autres chatons nés en mai 2009. Minuit a été vaccinée et stérilisée et elle est devenue une très belle chatte. Mignonne, docile et gentille, Minuit a un tempérament calme et est affectueuse. Présentement dans une famille d’accueil où il y a 2 chiens et des chats, Minuit ne verrait aucun inconvénient à se faire adopter par une famille qui possède déjà un chien. Offrez-lui le bonheur qu’elle mérite!

This beautiful grey-blue cat is the mother of Tina (1929) and five other kittens born in May 2009. She is vaccinated and sterilized and has grown into a lovely cat. Charming, quiet and gentle, Minuit has a very calm and affectionate nature. She currently live in a family with two dogs and other cats and she would fit well into a home with these same kind of pets. Give her the happiness she deserves!

1929 - Tina

Tina est une jolie chatte de couleur gris bleu et a de beaux yeux jaunes. Elle a un tempérament calme et aime les caresses. En mai 2009, elle a eu 2 charmants chatons (1931 Prince, et Princesse qui a déjà été adoptée). Depuis que les chatons sont sevrés, elle a été vaccinée et stérilisée. Elle est maintenant en attente d’une charmante famille pour lui donner l’attention qu’elle mérite.

Tina is a lovely female cat. Her beautiful blue grey colour and her yellow eyes make her a beauty. In May 2009, she had 2 cute kittens (1930 Prince and 1931 Princess who is already adopted). She has since received her vaccines and has been sterilized. She is now ready for adoption and we hope to find her the loving family she deserves.

1934 - Elizabeth (Lily)

Voici Élisabeth, Lily pour les intimes. Elle est grise et élancée, et elle a de beaux grands yeux verts. Le vétérinaire estime qu’elle a environ 2 ans. C’est une chatte très tranquille qui aime bien recevoir de l’attention. Elle se laisse facilement prendre et elle ne griffe et ne mord pas du tout, donc ce serait sans doute une bonne chatte pour une famille avec des enfants. Elle aimerait bien pouvoir aller dehors, elle y est habituée. Elle a eu une portée de 5 chatons dont 2 sont restés avec son ancienne propriétaire, elle est donc habituée à côtoyer d’autres chats. Il lui arrive aussi de nous accueillir quand on rentre à la maison. C’est une très bonne chatte de compagnie.

Lily is one courageous little mother cat who, all alone in an alley, raise her litter of kittens.  At the time, she was looking after a slightly older kitten, which led us to believe that she probably had a litter a few months earlier. She must have had a home at one time because she was wearing a tattered collar and was not afraid of humans. Lily is a tiny cat, very gentle, with a glistening black and white coat and big round eyes. After the life she has lived outside on the street, she is simply looking for a quite home that she will love -- and be loved. Because she is used to defending herself to protect her babies and to survive on the street, she can be difficult with other adult cats, so she needs a family where she can relax and blossom into a truly lovely cat.

1942 - Janis Joplin

Je suis née dans l’entre toit d’un petit hangar appartenant à un bénévole du refuge. Lorsque mes deux frères, ma sœur et moi avons été rescapés à l’aide d’une échelle, il faisait 45 degrés à l’intérieur. J’ai perdu le plus costaud de mes frères pour cette raison. Je suis la plus petite mais la plus robuste. Ma robe est de type tiquetée et ma maman d’accueil me trouve très jolie. Je suis celle qui lui a fait confiance en premier et je ne crains plus les humains aujourd’hui. Par contre, il serait préférable que je sois adoptée par des gens calmes et patients car je suis encore un peu craintive.

I as born between the beams of an attic in a little shed belonging to a refuge volunteer. When my two brothers, my sister and I were rescued with the help of a ladder, it was 45 degrees inside, and one of my brothers did not survive because of this. I may be the smallest one in my family but I am also the strongest. My coat appears to be speckled with tiny dots and my foster mom fines me very pretty. I was the first to feel confident with her and now I am no longer afraid of humans any more. Still, it would be best if I were adopted by a calm and patient family as I am still a little bit of a frailty-cat.

1943 - Joni Mitchell

Je suis la sœur de Janis Joplin et de Jimmy Hendrix. Nous n’avons pas eu un départ facile dans la vie et comme eux, j’étais effrayée au contact des humains. J’ai appris à leur faire confiance et je ronronne maintenant quand on me caresse. Je suis encore un petit peu craintive comme ma sœur, mais tout comme elle je ne me cache plus et je suis très enjouée. Je ferais une compagne formidable pour des gens calmes ayant des gestes lents et doux.

I am the sister of Joni Mitchell and Jimmy Hendrix. We had a pretty tough start in life and like them, I was afraid of human contact. But I have learned now to have confidence in people and purr loudly when I am petted. I am still a little bit apprehensive like my sister, but like her, I no longer hide all the time and I love to play. I would be a great companion for someone who is calm and soft and gentle in their ways.

1961 - Astrid (Ermine)

Astrid est une superbe calico qui est aussi douce que jolie. Elle a été trouvée dans une ruelle, par la voisine d’une de nos bénévoles. Celle-ci l’a recueillie et a pu apprécier son coté enjoué et adorable. Astrid est une petite chatte complètement adorable : à qui la chance ?

Astrid is a gorgeous calico who is as sweet as she is beautiful. She was found in an alley by a neighbour of a refuge volunteer and she brought her to the volunteer’s home, knowing that she would be looked after. She is playful, full of fun and quite simply, a totally adorable little cat who would make a wonderful addition to any home.

1972 - Stella

(Femelle, née en ?)

Stella vient de la même maison que Kalenchoe, où il y a trop de chats pour être heureux. Lorsque le Refuge l’a recueillie, elle avait une sévère infection de l’oreille interne, qui a causée des dommages permanents. C’est pour cela qu’elle se tient la tête inclinée, ce qui lui donne un certain charme. On dirait toujours qu’elle vient de poser une question et qu’elle attend la réponse. Elle est enjouée, affectueuse et son léger handicap ne l’empêche nullement de grimper, courir et s’amuser avec les autres chatons. Ce ravissant visage saura vous séduire sur le champ, et vous pourrez répondre "oui" à sa question perpétuelle : est-ce que tu m’aimes ?

Stella came from the same household as Kalenchoe — where there were simply too many cats and the refuge came to the rescue of more than a half-dozen kittens. Stella had a severe ear infection when she was rescued which permanently damaged her inner ear — with the result that she holds her head at a slight angle — giving her a very special charm. She always looks like she is about to ask a question and is willing to wait for an answer. She is playful, very affectionate and despite her slight handicap, she climbs, runs and is generally like any other kitten. The adorable little face will steal your heart in a minute and Stella deserves a loving home where she will be the centre of attention. Stella is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

1973 - Kalenchoe

Kalenchoe est un chaton gris et blanc, qui a été pris en charge par le Refuge, car il y avait trop de chats dans sa famille (plus de vingt). Il est gentil et très amusant, en plus du plaisir qu’on a à le regarder. Ce jeune chat vit avec d’autres chats, dans un foyer rempli d’activités et s’adaptera très bien dans un environnement de ce type.

Kalenchoe is a handsome grey and white kitty who was taken in by the refuge from a family who simply had too many cats — over twenty, in fact. He is friendly and full of fun, not to mention really good-looking. This young cat lives with many other cats in an active and busy home so he would adapt well to a permanent loving home with other cats and kids too.

1982 - Princess

Princesse est une chatte adorable mais avec des besoins très spécifiques. Elle a été abandonnée dans un transporteur, et quand on l’a découverte, elle avait une très sérieuse infection. Elle a reçu les traitements appropriés et a même reçu une transfusion sanguine. Physiquement, elle a complètement récupéré, mais ses mauvaises expériences passées ont laissé des séquelles et la rendent imprévisible. Elle peut être très affectueuse et heureuse de recevoir des caresses, mais elle est aussi nerveuse et territoriale, ce qui peut l’amener à mordre ou griffer. Princesse a donc besoin d’un foyer sans enfants ni animaux, où elle recevra beaucoup d’amour de quelqu’un qui accepte le défi et qui a l’expérience nécessaire avec les chats, pour qu’elle retrouve une pleine confiance envers les humains. Elle a environ 5 ou 6 ans et a déjà fait beaucoup de progrès en socialisation et a encore de belles années devant elle, pour découvrir que les humains peuvent être très gentils et fidèles envers elle.

Princess is a lovely cat with special needs. She was abandoned and dropped off in a cat carrier, where it was discovered that she had a bad infection. She was treated for her infection and also had a blood transfusion. She is now perfectly healthy physically. Princess has been through a lot in her life. She can be very affectionate but is also unpredictable. Princess loves to sit on people’s laps and be petted. She is a territorial and nervous cat that can sometime scratch or bite. She has come along way since she first arrived to the Refuge and is much friendlier now. She needs a special home with someone who has a lot of patience and can work with her to help her become even more social. She needs a home with no children and no other animals. Princess is approximately 5 to 6 years of age.

Ti-Tom a tout d’un chat siamois : silhouette allongée, oreilles allongées, pattes effilées, nez large, petits yeux verts, miaulement et comportement. Trouvé sur le boulevard Lasalle en juin dernier, maigre et déshydraté, une bénévole du Refuge l’a recueillie chez-elle et il s’est rapidement fait accepté par les autres chats et le chien de la maison. Un chat attachant, avec son petit air triste, il est enjoué, communicatif et affectueux. Laissez-vous charmer par ce petit bonheur.

Ti-tom is every bit like a Siamese cat – long body, long ears, slender legs, big nose, little green eyes and vocal. He was found on Lasalle Boulevard last June, skinny as a rail and dehydrated and a Refuge volunteer brought him home where he rapidly was accepted by the other cats and the doge in the foster home. He is a charming cat, with a slightly sad look but he loves to play, is very communicative and affectionate. Let him be the one to charm you into adopting him.

1994 - Annie

Je suis noire et blanche et j’ai un doigt de plus aux pattes avant. Un peu craintive mais très joueuse, j’ai bon appétit, j’aime les caresses et je ronronne en me couchant sur le côté pour vous présenter mon ventre. Le jour, j’adore dormir sur un coussin douillet - le soir, je dors à vos pieds si vous me le permettez. J’ai un pelage très doux. J'aime jouer avec d'autres chats mais préfère me tenir à l'écart des enfants. Laissez-moi le temps de m’adapter et je serai une joyeuse et fidèle compagne. Donnez-moi une chance de vous le prouver!

Annie is a wonderful little cat with extra toes on her front feet. She is full of fun and she like to play with the other cats but she is quite cautious around the youngest children. She has a good appetite, loves to be petted and purrs loudly when petted on her tummy. During the day, she often curls up in a basket and at night she sleeps at the foot of the bed, happy to have a few caresses. With a bit of patience, she would become an happy and a faithful friend – she just needs a chance to prove it.

2000 - Timothy

Timothy a été trouvé alors qu’il avait environ 10 jours. Il semble que sa mère l’ait abandonné. On lui a trouvé une chatte nourrice qui l’a bien accepté. Timothy s’est bien adapté à tous ses bouleversements et est prêt pour un domicile fixe où on lui donnera toute l’attention dont un si joli petit chaton a besoin après avoir traversé autant d’épreuves.

Timothy was found on a back balcony without a mother when he was about 10 days old and he brought to a refuge foster family who had a nursing mom, and she accepted him right away. Timothy seems to have thrived in his new, safe environment and he is now looking for a permanent home. He is as cute as only a kitten can be, full of fun, playful, affectionate and all-around great kitty.

2013 - Nefertiti

Cette jolie petite tabby a été recueilli dans le stationnement d’un complexe résidentiel et a été amenée à une bénévole du Refuge. À la clinique vétérinaire, il s’est avéré qu’elle était déjà stérilisée. Maintenant, tout ce dont a besoin Nefertiti, c’est un bon foyer. Elle vit déjà avec d’autres chats et s’adaptera donc très bien à un foyer où il y a déjà des chats.

This cute little tabby was found abandoned in the parking garage of a residential complex and was brought to a Refuge volunteer who took her to the vet clinic right away. There it was discovered that she had alredy been sterilized. Now all Nefertiti needs is a permanent loving home. As she is in a foster home with other cats she would adapt well to a new home where there are other pets.

2019 - Dick

Dick est un chaton plein d’entrain mais aussi très affectueux. Tous les matins, il interrompt ses jeux pour une séance de câlins avec sa maman d’accueil. Dick peut être adopté seul ou avec sa maman Hannah.

Dick is full of spunk and very playful and loving. He is a young and gentle boy. Dixie loves to play and every morning he flips onto his side for a belly rub from his foster family. Dixie would like to be adopted either alone or with his mother Hannah.

2031 - Hannah

Hannah a été trouvée dans un hangar de Verdun, où elle s’occupait de ses 4 chatons. Elle est un peu nerveuse en présence d’étrangers, mais devient très douce et affectueuse, une fois habituée à leur présence. À cause de sa timidité, il serait préférable pour elle d’avoir un foyer sans enfants ni animaux. Elle a environ 2 ans, et peut être adoptée seule ou avec son bébé Dixie.

Hannah was rescued from a shed in a Verdun alley, where she had 4 kittens. She is extremely gentle and affectionate. Hannah is also very nervous, but after a few minutes of getting used to someone, she warms up immediately. Due to her nervous nature, Hannah needs a home without other children or animals. She is approximately 2 years old. She could be adopted alone or with her baby Dixie.

2032 - Jenny

On m’a trouvée dans la rue. J’ai eu une portée de 3 chatons. Il reste un chaton à adopter que ma famille d’accueil a appelé Rio (2035). Moi aussi, je recherche une famille pour la vie. Je suis joueuse, j’aime les caresses et je suis propre. J’ai encore un peu peur des enfants surtout lorsqu’ils courent. Par contre, avec les adultes, je vais venir à leur rencontre. Le matin, je réclame des caresses et je me laisse porter facilement. Je n’ai aucun problème avec les autres chats de la maison. Si vous m’adoptez, je saurai être fidèle. Il faudra cependant me laisser m’adapter à mon nouvel environnement : il m’a fallu 3 semaines avant de faire confiance à ma famille d’accueil composée de plusieurs enfants. J’ai été vaccinée et stérilisée. Donnez- moi la chance de faire partie de votre famille!

Jenny is a lovely tabby who was found in the street with her 3 new-born kittens. There still one kitten for adoption, Rio (2035). Jenny is looking for a forever home that she can call her own. She is playful, loves to be petted and very clean. She is still a bit fearful when the kids in her foster home are super-active, but with adults she is ready to spend some quality time. In the morning she comes to be petted and likes to be carried in your arms. She also gets along with the other cats in her foster home. If you adopt Jenny you will have a faithful friend – nevertheless, she will need some time to adjust to her new environment, as it took her three weeks to become confident in her foster home with several children. But she would be worth it – so give her a chance to be part of your family.

2035 - Rio (Dijoe)

Rio (rivière) est un chat long et mince. Ses poils scintillent comme l’eau. Il est beau et charmant. Coquin et curieux, il veut savoir tout ce que vous faite et ce qui attire votre attention. Parfois indépendant, il préfère la compagnie des humains ou des autres chats de la maison. Quand il se retire pour dormir, c’est qu’il est bien fatigué. Dijoe, son surnom affectueux, est enjoué et interactif. Il aime la lutte amicale, le corps à corps, les contacts physiques. Gourmand, il sonne l’heure du pâté. Il est en santé et vigoureux, mais il a un problème mineur à l’œil droit qui demande des soins minimaux de temps à autre. Le vétérinaire pense qu’avec une vie stable et avec l’âge, les épisodes d’inflammation de son œil se distancieront peu à peu. Rio (river) is a long thin cat. His fur scintillates like waves on the water, and he is handsome and charming. Mischievous and curious, he always wants to know what you are doing and paying attention to. Although sometimes independent, he prefers keeping humans or other cats company. When he curls up to sleep, you know he must be exhausted. Dijoe, his affectionate nickname, is playful and interactive. He likes friendly wresting, physical contact. Always the gourmand, he insists on dinnertime. Although healthy and vigorous, he has a minor problem in his right eye that needs some care from time to time. The veterinarian thinks that with age and a stable lifestyle, the periods of inflammation of his eye should become farther and farther apart. Rio will prove his confidence and attachment to you. He would be perfect for keeping a cat company who gets bored alone at home all day.

2053 - Sass

(Femelle, née en mars 2008)

Sass, c’est un abréviation de Sassafras; elle est bien un peu « sassy » mais aussi mignonne que possible. Nous l’appelons un tabby à cause des marques sur son visage, mais elle est principalement blanche avec des taches de noir et une queue noire. Sass a été abandonnée par son ancienne famille lorsqu’ils ont déménagé, mais un voisin avait remarqué non seulement qu’elle était seule, mais qu’elle était très très enceinte. Il l’a prise et a demandé au Refuge de la prendre ensuite car lui aussi déménageait. Quand une bénévole est venue la recueillir, elle crut voir un visage familier. En fait, ce même voisin avait trouvé deux chatons pendant une tempête l’hiver dernier et le refuge les a pris eux aussi. Ils étaient des copies identiques de Sass, alors on ne peut que conclure que cette grossesse n’a pas été sa première. Quelque jours après que nous eûmes mis Sass dans sons foyer d’accueil, elle donna naissance à cinq adorables chatons, aucun de lesquels ne le ressemblent mais qui sont tous beaux et enjoués. Cette excellente mère a maintenant été stérilisé et maintenant qu’elle n’a plus la responsabilité de garder ses chatons, elle peut se dévouer à une nouvelle famille chanceuse.

Sass is short for Sassafras and she is just a bit sassy too, but cute as can be. She was left behind when her former owners moved away and a neighbour noticed to the Refuge not only that she was abandoned but that she was very, very pregnant. When a volunteer went to pick her up, it was like she was seeing a familiar face. It turned out that this same neighbour had found 2 kittens during a storm last winter and the Refuge took them too — spitting images of Sass so we can only conclude that her recent pregnancy was not her first. A few days after we put Sass in her foster home, she gave birth to 5 kittens which are all handsome, playful and full of fun. This lovely mother has now been sterilized and since she is free from the responsibilities of raising her litter, she can devote herself to a new lucky family.

2080 - Mimine

Abandonnée par ses maîtres chez le vétérinaire, aurait été euthanasiée, mais a été récupérée par une bénévole du Refuge qui la trouvée par hasard en allant visiter son chat hospitalisé. Elle est douce, adore les caresses et est très reconnaissante de pouvoir vivre encore quelques belles années. Se cherche une famille qui saura lui donner affection et soins et surtout ne l'abandonnera pas à nouveau. Elle n’attend que vous.

Abandoned by her family at the vet, was to be put to sleep, but was rescued by a volunteer from the shelter that was visiting her own hospitalized cat. She is sweet, loves to be caressed and is very grateful to be able to live for a few good years. She is looking for a loving home, with a family that will give her affection and good care and never be abandoned again. She is waiting for you.

2081 - Jean-Paul

(Mâle, 2006)

Jean-Paul est un très beau gros chat beige, qui ne manque pas de personnalité! Un peu balourd, il est passé de la rudesse des ruelles de Verdun au confort d’un vrai lit! Quelle surprise ce fut de le découvrir emmitouflé sous la couette! C’est un chat très affectueux, parfois imprévisible dans ses réactions. Il s’entend très bien avec les autres chats. Il pourrait être le seul chat de la maison ou vivre avec un autre chat atteint du F.I.V., étant donné qu’il est lui-même F.I.V. positif. Un chat à découvrir!

Jean-Paul is one big handsome beige cat — and his personality is just as big and he is a bit kooky too. Luckily, he has been able to give up his rough life in the alleys of Verdun for the comfort of a real bed (and breakfast) and his foster Mom was surprised the first time she found him snuggled up under the quilt of her bed. He is a very affectionate cat and sometimes, his reactions are unpredictable but never nasty. He gets along well with the other cats in his foster home although he would also do well as an only cat, or with another cat with FIV, as he himself is FIV positive. A real treasure waiting to be discovered.

2102 - Cybèle

(Femelle, née en août 2007)

Cybèle est une magnifique écaille de tortue avec un visage très particulier, sombre d’un coté et clair de l’autre, tacheté de noir. Elle était une chatte de ruelle qui a eu au moins une portée (Pumpkin, Patapat et Poutchi), mais qui est maintenant stérilisée et vit dans le confort d’une maison d’accueil. Elle est encore timide et a besoin d’un peu de temps pour croire que son nouveau confort n’est pas temporaire. Mais elle est si belle, que les efforts faits pour la rendre plus confiante, ne peuvent être que gratifiants pour la personne qui acceptera le défi.

Cybèle is a beautiful tortie with a most unusual face, dark on one side and pale beige on the other — flecked with black point. She was a street cat who produced at least one litter of kittens (Pumpkin, Patapat and Poutchi) but she has now been taken out of the back lanes and has been neutered and is living in a new foster home. She is a bit shy and will need to be given time to adjust to a life of relative luxury after living on the mean streets of Verdun. She is a real beauty, though, and any effort required to help her become the loving, confident cat she deserves to be, will be rewarded many time over.

2137 - Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman est digne de son nom : profondément drôle, chaleureux et intelligent Il est un des 5 chatons confiés au Refuge par une famille qui avait remarqué que leur mère était incapable de produire suffisamment de lait pour les nourrir. Walt a bien failli succomber. Peu après son arrivée, il a été transporté d'urgence à la clinique vétérinaire car il ne bougeait plus du tout. D'abord on pensait qu'il était trop tard pour le sauver, mais une vétérinaire nouvellement diplômée a estimé qu'une bonne dose d'antibiotiques et une injection de fluides pourraient faire la différence. Aujourd'hui, Walt est la preuve vivante qu'elle avait tout à fait raison. Malgré un léger souffle au cœur, il est fort, sain, plein de vie, affectueux et gentil. Walt aime beaucoup vivre avec d'autres chats.

Walt Whitman is aptly named: profoundly funny, warm and intelligent. Walt was one of 5 kittens brought to the refuge after a kindly family noticed that the mother was unable to produce enough milk to feed them and they were worried ― and Walt nearly didn't survive. Shortly after his arrival, he was rushed to the vet clinic, immobile ― and at first the staff thought it was probably to late to save him but the newly-graduated vet felt that a good dose of antibiotics and an injection of fluids could make a difference ― and today, Walt is thriving evidence that she was absolutely right. Despite a light heart breath, he is strong, healthy and full of vigor. He is a sweet, loving and kind kitten who likes to live with others cats.

2140 - Susie

(Femelle, née en 2008)

Susie et ses trois bébés ont été abandonnés dans une boîte, devant une clinique vétérinaire. Les gens de la clinique ont demandé au gens du Refuge de leur trouver un foyer. Susie est une jolie tabby, à poil mi-long. Elle a été une maman formidable, mais maintenant que ses bébés sont assez grands pour se débrouiller sans elle, c’est auprès de votre famille qu’elle distribuera tout l’amour qu’elle a à donner.

Susie and three babies and a slightly older kitten were found in a box at the front door of one of the vet clinics the refuge uses for its cats. They asked the refuge if we could put them into our adoption process and we were happy to do so. Susie is a lovely brown tabby with medium long hair and she has been a great mom but not that her kittens are no longer dependent on her, she is ready to find a new permanent home where she will be a loving and beloved member of the family.

2143 - Coleen

Colleen est la sœur de Shamrock et Sweeny O’Toole, et leurs noms à consonance irlandaise, donne un indice sur leur foyer d’accueil de Pointe St-Charles. Colleen est une beauté, aux grands yeux de séductrice, au visage charmant et à la personnalité agréable. Elle a vraiment tout pour que la personne qui aura la chance de l’adopter, l’élise la reine de la maison.

Colleen is the sister of Shamrock and Sweeny O’Toole and the Irish names merely reflect the nature of their Pointe St-Charles home. Colleen is a beauty, with big eyes, an adorable face and a charming personality. Like her siblings, she is full of fun and loves to play, chase her toys and enjoy the sunny window overlooking a park with a magnificent view — not to mention the numerous birds which fly by to keep her occupied. All Colleen needs now is a permanent home where she will be put on a pedestal and worshipped for the rest of her life.

2161 - Nellie

Nellie est une magnifique écaille-de-tortue, aux couleurs aussi douces et timides que son tempérament. Mais elle peut aussi être très enjouée et adore être avec son frère Herman qui lui, est plus extraverti. Ces deux chatons sont nés d’une mère plutôt sauvage que le Refuge essayait d’attraper, sachant qu’elle était enceinte. Lorsqu’elle fut attrapée, on l’a amenée chez le vétérinaire où elle accoucha le soir même. Sur les six chatons, Nellie est la seule qui n’est pas noire et blanche. Comme les chatons ont été habitués dès leur naissance, au contact avec les humains, ils sont très sociables, et qui ne voudrait pas d’une beauté comme Nellie, dans son foyer?

Nellie is a wonderful little pale tortoise shell, with soft colours and a quiet, shy disposition but she is also playful and loves to be with her brother Herman who is a very outgoing. These two kittens are from a litter born to a cat that was living on the streets and quite wild — in fact, the refuge was trying to trap her mother, along with six new babies, when she got into the trap first — and though we knew she was pregnant, we were not sure how pregnant she was — so we took her to a clinic and during the night she gave birth to six little babies, all black and white except for Nellie. Because the kittens were socialized early on, they are all friendly and most adoptable and Nellie’s great beauty makes her a very desirable little cat.

2162 - Yamska

(Femelle, née en mars 2009)

Trouvée dehors, encore bébé. Jolie, agile et intelligente. Elle a beaucoup de caractère. Elle s’adapte bien et rapidement (quelques jours) à un nouvel environnement, mais au moment de sa première rencontre avec un autre animal ou avec une personne, elle grogne. Elle grognera ainsi 2-3 jours, mais lorsqu’elle se sentira rassurée et en sécurité dans son nouveau chez-elle, elle s’y installera comme si elle y avait toujours vécu. Elle aime les câlins mais vous ne pourrez la prendre dans vos bras (sans qu’elle proteste) qu’après quelques semaines. S’adapte rapidement avec d’autres chats, mais n’a pas encore vécu avec des enfants ou des chiens.

Yamaska was found outside, still a baby — pretty, active and intelligent. She has a lot of character and will adapt within a few days to a new environment — even though her first encounter with another animal or person will make her growl but then she fits right in as though she has always lived there. She likes to be petted but you may only be able to hold her in your arms without her protesting after a good length.

2176 - Bottine

(Femelle, née en décembre 2008)

Errante et très jeune, Bottine était déjà enceinte. Nul doute que lorsqu’elle était bébé, Bottine n’a pas eu l’habitude qu’on la prenne et qu’on la flatte. Elle est donc très craintive. Elle a donné naissance à 5 beaux chatons et a été placée en foyer d’accueil avec ses chatons qui sont devenus très sociables. Ils ont tous trouvé une famille d’adoption (chats 2171 à 2175). Dans son foyer actuel, Bottine n’arrive pas à s’acclimater : elle craint encore le chien et le chat de la maison, et les humains. Nous recherchons donc pour Bottine un foyer qui lui conviendra mieux : sans autre animal, dans lequel elle pourra s'acclimater. Serez-vous la personne qui saura doucement l’apprivoiser ?

Bottine was already pregnant when stray and very young. When she was a baby, she was undoubtedly never held or stroked, so she is very afraid. She gave birth to five beautiful kittens and was placed in a foster family with her kittens who became very sociable. They (cats 2171 to 2175) all found permanent families. Bottine, however, can’t seem to adapt to her current home: she is still scared of the cat, dog, and humans in the house. We are looking for a family for Bottine that will suit her better, one without other animals, in which she will be able to adjust. Will you be the one to gently bring her round?

2185 - Camay

Camay est une petite chatte sauvage recueillie en décembre lorsqu’elle avait environ trois mois. Elle vivait dans une cour à Verdun avec sa famille (la maman, deux sœurs et un grand frère). Elle a été placée en famille d’accueil où un travail de socialisation a été entrepris. Camay a fait beaucoup de progrès, mais ce travail doit être poursuivi. Elle ne demande jamais à sortir. Elle est très attachante. Elle n’a aucune malice, ne griffe pas ni ne mord. Elle est juste encore incertaine face à l’être humain. Saurez-vous gagner son cœur ? Camay is a little cat who was rescued in December, when she was about three months old and feral. At the time, she lived in a lot in Verdun with her family (her mother, two sisters and an elder brother). She was placed in a foster family where socialization began. Camay has made lots of progress, but her adjustment is not yet complete. Still, she never asks to go out. Camay is very lovable. She has no malice in her, never claws and never bites. 2186 - Goliath

Goliath est un beau grand chat très calme qui adore les humains. Maintenant qu’il s’est bien adapté à son foyer, il ne demande plus à sortir. Il commence à se rapprocher des autres chats et semble aimer la vie de famille. Il cherche moins à protéger son territoire, car il reçoit beaucoup d’affection. Goliath a besoin qu’on lui manifeste un peu d’attention et d’attachement, il aime être encadré, ça le rassure car il a peur de l’abandon. Goliath a bon appétit et il dort bien - il ne dérange pas et adore se coller, la nuit. Goliath is a handsome, very, very large cat who loves people. He is calm now, he has started to befriend the other cats in his foster home and he is much less territorial, being given lots of attention. Mimi est une chatte tout simplement fantastique! Elle adore la compagnie des humains et n'est jamais bien loin d'où nous nous trouvons dans la maison. Elle est extrêmement affectueuse et douce. Elle aime beaucoup se faire brosser et ne refuse jamais d'affection. Ce qui est formidable c'est qu'elle en donne beaucoup en échange. Elle aime avoir un poste d'observation près d'une fenêtre et aime aussi jouer à ses heures. Elle a un excellent caractère. Son seul défaut : elle est trrrès gourmande! Il n'en tient qu'à nous de lui refuser ses caprices!

Mimi is a simply fantastic cat! She adores the company of humans and is never far from us in the house. She is extremely affectionate and very soft; she greatly enjoys being brushed and never refuses loving attention. Moreover, she gives us lots in exchange for our fondness. She likes to take up a spot near the window and watch the world go by, and is also playful when it suits her. She has an excellent character.

2190 - Danielle

(Femelle, née en mai 2009)

Une adorable petite chatte qui ronronne au premier contact. Elle a été trouvée à l'extérieur affamée et amaigrie mais elle reprend facilement des forces et accepte tout l'amour qu'on lui donne.

An adorable little cat who purrs as soon as she is touched. She was found outside hungry and emaciated, but she regained strength easily and accepts all the love given her.

2197 - Salma

(Femelle, née en janvier 2009)

Salma possède un magnifique pelage mi-long, d’un beau gris. Elle est calme, affectueuse et adore les jouets. Comme elle a de très petits yeux, il arrive qu’elle ait l’air presque endormie. Mais un seul geste de caresse, et la voici prête à vous rejoindre. Il est touchant de voir sa tendresse envers les humains, malgré le mauvais sort que certains lui ont réservé. Elle a été abandonnée près d’un immeuble à logement de Verdun, où elle fouillait les poubelles pour se nourrir au grand mécontentement du concierge de l’endroit. Comme il allait appeler la patrouille animale pour la ramasser, un résident de l’immeuble a contacté le Refuge qui a décidé de lui donner la chance qu’elle mérite dans la vie.

Salma is a lovely medium-long haired cat, a most beautiful soft grey colour. She is calm, affectionate and loves to play with her many cat toys. Salma has unusually small eyes and she often looks like she is asleep but she is ready to sit up and take notice as soon as you put your hand out to pet her. She is a sweet-nature little cat who was found abandoned outside an apartment building in Verdun, where she was foraging in the garbage for food, to the dismay of the concierge who threatened to call animal patrol to take her away. A resident in the building called a refuge volunteer who immediately picked up the cat and found her a loving foster home where she has made herself quite comfortable.

2205 - Tommy D.

(Mâle, né en août 2009)

Tommy D. (D pour Douglas, Tommy Douglas représentant un héros pour sa maman d’accueil) a été sauvé d’un secteur industriel de Ville LaSalle, par un ami du Refuge qui savait que le propriétaire avait appelé la patrouille animale pour ramasser les animaux qui erraient dans le coin. Il a réussi à sauver plusieurs chatons et les mettre en sécurité dans une maison d’accueil. Tommy est un élégant chaton à Tuxedo et à la moustache blanche qui ressort bien sur son visage noir. Il est un peu timide car il ne connaissait pas beaucoup les humains, mais il s’habitue rapidement aux caresses et adore les jeux avec les autres chats de la maison. Ses meilleurs amis de la maison sont Bowtie et Sasha. Le joyeux trio de chats noirs et blancs passe du bon temps, en attendant chacun leur foyer permanent.

Tommy D. (the D is for Douglas, as Tommy Douglas is a hero to the foster mom) was rescued from an industrial plant in LaSalle by a friend of the refuge when the owner of the building called the animal patrol to take away the many cats who were foraging about the grounds. The friend managed to rescue several kittens and brought them to a foster home for safe-keeping. Tommy is a handsome tuxedo kitten, and his white whiskers stand out against his very black face. He is a bit shy, probably because he did not have a lot of human contact as a very small kitten, but he is quickly getting used to being held and cuddled and he loves to play with the many other cats in his foster home. He particularly likes to play with two other shy cats, Bowtie and Sasha, and the three of them make a very handsome trio of Tuxedos, just waiting for a chance to show off their finery.

2211 - Merlin

(Mâle, né en décembre 2007)

Merlin est un jeune chat et il a une belle fourrure noire au poil long. Il a été recueilli à l’extérieur cet hiver, probablement abandonné après les déménagements de juillet. C’est un chat affectueux et très attachant. Il adore l’attention et aimerait être dans vos bras à longueur de journée, il se met aussi à ronronner juste à être assis près des humains. C’est un gros bébé qui serait le compagnon idéal pour quelqu’un ayant beaucoup de tendresse à lui donner. Il s’entend également très bien avec les autres chats et aime jouer avec eux.

Merlin is a young cat and has beautiful long black hair. He was found outdoors this winter, probably abandoned in the July moves. He’s a very affectionate cat and loves as much attention as he can get. He would gladly spend the entire day in your arms; however he will purr just being close to humans. He’s a big baby and would be the ideal companion for someone with lots of love and attention to give him. He also gets along very well with other cats and enjoys playing with them.

2214 - Little Mel

(Mâle, né en mai 2009)

Vous aurez sans doute deviné que Little Mel, est le petit frère de Big Mel (2213), deux élégants chatons d’un beau gris acier. Les six chatons de la maison passent des heures à courir, lutter et poursuivre leurs jouets, le tout entrecoupé par de longues siestes. Ces merveilleux chatons sont prêts à trouver un bon foyer où ils recevront tout l’amour qu’ils méritent.

Little Mel is — you guessed it — the smaller brother of Big Mel and both are handsome steel-grey kittens. These two, along with two siblings and two cousins form one big happy family of playful, affectionate cats who are always together, wrestling with each other, chasing toys and snuggling up for a long nap before starting the routine all over again. These handsome cats are ready to find a permanent loving home.

2216 - Mélanie

(Femelle, née en mai 2009)

Mélanie, la soeur de Big Mel et Little Mel habite avec cinq chatons et beaucoup d’autres chats, en fait beaucoup trop d’autres chats. C’est la raison pour laquelle le Refuge s’est impliqué. L’hiver dernier, un résident entendait de petits miaulements plaintifs. Il a découvert trois petits chatons et leur maman. Ils avaient été abandonnés lors d’un déménagement. Il les a recueillis mais avant de pouvoir faire stériliser la maman, elle s’est retrouvée à nouveau enceinte et donnait le jour cette fois, à quatre chatons, pendant que sa fille Sylvie, une chatte de la première portée avait à son tour deux chatons. Il y a donc présentement six chatons prêts à se trouver une maison, où ils pourront grandir heureux et devenir le centre d’attention. Mélanie s’adaptera bien à une maison où il y a des enfants et des animaux avec lesquels elle pourra jouer

Melanie (sister of Big and Little Mel) is one of six kittens in a home with lots of other cats -- in fact, too many cats which is how the refuge got involved with them. Last winter a resident heard pitiful little meows from behind his garbage bin and found three little kittens and their mother, who had been abandoned when her owners moved out. He brought them in -- but before he could get the mom neutered, she had four more kittens and her daughter, Sylvie, one of the original kittens, also had two babies, which makes for a houseful of cats. Now these six kittens are all ready to find new homes where they can live a long and happy life being the centre of attention. Melanie would adapt well to a home with other pets and kids and where there is plenty of action to keep her amused.

2220 - Sylvie

(Femelle, née en novembre 2008)

Sylvie est née l’hiver dernier et trouvée à l’extérieur, après que sa mère et ses deux frères eurent été abandonnés par leurs propriétaires précédents. Le bon samaritain s’est vite retrouvé débordé, puisque Sylvie et sa mère ont rapidement donnée naissance à une portée chacune. Sylvie est une vraie beauté tabby, avec des tâches blanches sur les cotés. Son pelage mi-long soyeux et son charmant caractère ne peuvent que séduire quiconque aura la chance de la rencontrer.

Sylvie was born last winter and found outside after her owners abandoned her mom and two other kittens. The kind person who brought them in soon found himself with more cats than he could count as both Sylvie and her mom gave birth this summer to two and four kittens respectively and he asked the refuge to find good homes for them. Sylvie is a real beauty — basically a tabby with with spots all over her sides. Her sleek fur is medium-long and she is as friendly and amiable as she is lovely. Her two babies are Little Mel and Blackie — and their half brothers and sisters are Big Mel, Melanie, Little Sara and Mixi. These are all beautiful cats who enjoy chasing each other up and down a long hall, wrestling in the kitchen then curling up in one large, furry pile for a nap in a sunny window. This stunning cat is just waiting to find a new permanent home where she will be the star of the show — and not just because of her good looks but her charming personality too.

2222 - Daisy

(Femelle, née en avril 2009)

Daisy n’est pas à son meilleur lors de nos journées d’adoption. Le fait de passer la journée enfermée dans une cage la rend de mauvaise humeur, alors qu’à la maison elle est affectueuse, enjouée et s’entend bien avec les autres chats. Daisy est arrivée au Refuge par l’intermédiaire d’une jeune femme qui est venue nous la confier. C’est les larmes aux yeux qu’elle nous a expliqué comme son chemin avait croisé celui de Daisy. Elle marchait dans une rue de Verdun, avec devant elle, un couple à vélo. Soudain, la femme a ouvert le sac de sport qu’elle transportait, en a fait sortir un chat, et ils sont repartis à toute allure en se disant de courir, pour éviter que le chat ne les suive. La jeune femme n’en croyait pas ses yeux. Ne pouvant abandonner la pauvre bête à un traitement si cruel, elle l’a recueillie et confiée au Refuge qui a promis d’en prendre soin. Elle vit dans une bonne famille temporaire, a été stérilisée et vaccinée. Tout ce qui lui manque, c’est le confort et la sécurité de votre foyer, où elle n’aura plus jamais à craindre d’être abandonnée.

Daisy is a wonderful little cat who doesn’t much enjoy adoption days — probably because she hates cages and she gets a little temperamental by the end of the day but at home she is playful, affectionate and gets along well with the other cats in her foster home. Daisy arrived unexpectedly at an adoption day last fall, carried in by a young woman with tears in her eyes and who told the refuge volunteers how she came to have Daisy. She was walking down a street in Verdun behind a man on a bicycle and a woman carrying a sports bag. Suddenly, the woman opened the bag, dumped out the cat and the man said run, run, or the cat will follow us. The young woman couldn’t believe what was happening so she scooped up the cat and brought her to the community centre — where we promised to take care of her — and we did. We found a foster home right away and she has since been neutered and had both vaccines so all Daisy needs now is a permanent loving home where she will be appreciated and adored — as she deserves — and will never again have to be worried about being dumped on the street. Give Daisy a chance and you will not regret your decision.

2255 - Tigga

(Mâle, né 2007)

Tigga est un gros tabby brun qui vivait à l’extérieur où il était nourri par une famille d’accueil. Une journée, il semble qu’il ait décidé que la vie à l’intérieur, c’était mieux. Il a dû avoir des mites d’oreilles à un certain moment car une de ses oreilles semble avoir été abimée par trop de grattage. Elle repose mollement sur le coté de sa tête, ce qui lui donne encore plus de charme. Il adore les caresses et se frotte contre vos jambes pour en avoir toujours plus. C’est un bon matou, qui aime ses jouets et les longues siestes, enroulés sur son tapis préféré. Il est prêt à s’installer chez-vous.

Tigga is a big brown tabby who was being fed by a foster family outside the apartment and one day he decided this would make a really good home. He must have had an infestation of ear mites at some time and the constant scratching for relief has damaged his right ear which is quite thick and lies flat against his head — but it doesn’t diminish his charm one bit. He is personable, loves to be petted and asks for more by rubbing up against your legs. He is a sweet-nature cat who likes to play with his toys and to enjoy long naps curled up on a thick, warm carpet. Tigga is ready to find a permanent home — one with other cats would be welcome.

2260 - Tango

(Mâle, né en 2007)

Ce gros chat orange, errait dans la cour arrière d’une maison de Verdun où des résidents compatissants le nourrissaient. Voyant l’hiver approcher, ils ont demandé au Refuge de lui trouver un foyer confortable. Il a déjà dû appartenir à quelqu’un dans le passé car il n’a pas peur des humains. Il s’entend bien aussi avec les autres chats. Il a une façon charmante de se déplacer, avec la queue enroulée sur son dos. C’est un gros chat, mais sans aucune malice, qui a besoin de sécurité et d’amour.

This big orange kitty was hanging around a back yard in Verdun being fed by some kindly residents who, as winter approached, couldn’t bear to see him outside so they asked the refuge to help find a new home for him. He must have belonged to someone at some time as he is not afraid of people — and he gets along well with other cats. He is quite charming and usually walks with his tail curled over his back. He is a big cat but totally without malice and he would make a wonderful addition to a home where he would feel secure and loved. This handsome cat deserved a long and happy life.

2295 - Mia

(Femelle, née en octobre 2009)

Mia est un véritable éclat de soleil. Elle peut être un peu timide lors du premier rencontre, mais une fois habituée à son nouvel environnement, elle est enjouée, sociable, et énergétique. Elle garde compagnie beaucoup avec sa sœur, Mika (2294), et les deux font une excellente équipe. Mia est très affectueuse et elle saisit chaque opportunité de nous faire des câlins sous les couvertures. Elle adore que sa sœur lui nettoie, mais elle sollicite l’amour humaine aussi. Elle a de longs poils gris qui ont beaucoup poussé depuis janvier : elle ressemble maintenant à une petite oursonne. Mia est polydactyle, alors ses pattes ont l’air de petites mitaines - ce qui ajoute au charme de cette chatte. Nous garderions cette belle chatonne si nous n’avions pas tant de chats déjà! Elle est adorable à ce point. N’importe qui serait chanceux d’avoir un si merveilleux animal de compagnie. Mia nous donne une foule de moments joyeux et drôles. Elle s’entend également bien avec les autres animaux. Nous ne sommes pas capables d’être présents lors des journées d’adoption les dimanches, mais vous êtes bienvenus de venir visiter Mia chez nous, n’importe quand dans la semaine. Mia is a ray of sunshine. She may be a little shy at first, but once used to her environment she is playful, sociable and energetic. She is great at keeping her sister, Mika (2294) company and looking out for her. Mia is very affectionate and she cuddles with us under the covers every chance she gets. She loves being groomed by her sister but seeks out human affection as well. She has long, dark grey hair and has grown a lot since January so she looks like a little bear. Mia is poly-dactyl so her paws look like little mittens which adds to her charm. We would keep this kitten if we didn't already have so many cats, that's how adorable she is. Anybody would be lucky to have such a wonderful pet. She is giving us many happy and funny moments. She also gets along great with other animals. We are not able to make the adoption days on Sundays so you are welcome to come visit Mia at our house any day of the week. Contact the Refuge for arrangement.

	Sur rendez-vous : Certains chats, bien qu’affectueux et adorables, réagissent très mal aux journées d’adoption. Les raisons sont multiples : certains réagissent mal au transport en voiture, d’autres n’aiment pas la proximité des autres chats ou se sentent tout simplement trop vulnérables dans une cage. Afin de leur éviter un surplus de stress, nous ne les présentons pas aux journées d’adoption. Pour vous permettre de les rencontrer dans les meilleures circonstances possibles, nous organisons des visites directement dans leur famille d’accueil. Si un de ces chats vous a séduit, veuillez contacter le Refuge en mentionnant le numéro et le nom du chat que vous désirez rencontrer. Nous vous recontacterons afin de déterminer une date de rencontre.		Chat défi : Certains de nos chats représentent un défi pour l’adoptant. Il peut s’agir de troubles du comportement, certains chats étant encore très craintifs envers les humains ou peu habitués aux règles de la vie à l’intérieur. D’autres requièrent des soins médicaux, une alimentation spéciale ou une attention constante à tout changement de leur état de santé. La description du chat vous donnera plus de détails sur le type de défi à relever. Si vous avez une bonne connaissance des chats, la disponibilité nécessaire et que vous désirez faire une adoption qui transformera la vie d’un chat ayant eu un départ difficile, nos chats défis n’attendent que vous.
	By appointment : Some cats, although normally adorable and affectionate, react very badly to adoption days. There are various reasons for this; some hate car travel, some don’t like to be near other cats, and some simply feel too vulnerable in cages. To avoid stressing out these cats more than necessary, we do not bring them to adoption days. We instead organize meetings at foster families’ homes, so that you meet these cats under more favourable circumstances. If one of these cats has won your heart, contact the Refuge, be sure to mention the name and number of the cat(s) you would like to meet. We will reply to your message to determine a meeting date.		Challenging cat : Some of our cats are challenges for adopters. This can be because of behavioural problems; some cats are very shy and scared of humans, or have not adjusted to indoor life. Others require medical care, a special diet, or constant attention to any changes in their health. The descriptions on our website will give you more information about the type of challenge for each individual cat. If you know cats well, have the necessary availability and would like to make an adoption that will change the life of a cat who has had a difficult start, our challenging cats are waiting only for you.
